HER Holding Space - Womens open mic/deck

Her Holding Space 12/3/26 @ Unit 3 N15

There have been many moments in my life and in the music industry where I have felt small, uncertain, and at times completely voiceless. Stepping into the world as an independent artist can be daunting — intimidating rooms, unspoken hierarchies, and the quiet feeling that you have to prove you deserve to be there. I often found myself wishing there were more spaces where women could simply arrive as they are: to experiment, to share, to be heard without pressure or judgment.

Her Holding Space was born from that feeling.

This night is about creating a safe and supportive environment where women can step forward with their art — whether that’s music, spoken word, DJing, or something still taking shape. It’s a space to be witnessed, celebrated, and held by a room that understands the courage it takes to share your voice.

It’s important to say that this isn’t about exclusion, and it certainly isn’t an anti-men space. Men will be present in the audience and supporting the event. The intention is simply to centre women as performers — to offer a moment where our voices take the front of the room.

This will be our first gathering, and if the energy feels right and there’s demand, the hope is to grow Her Holding Space into a monthly event, hosted in different community-led venues across London so that women in different areas can access and shape the space.

As the event evolves, I would also love to open the door to other forms of creativity. The long-term vision is for these nights to become more multimedia — incorporating visual arts, film, installations, and creating opportunities for women creatives and entrepreneurs to share their work, services, and products alongside the performances.

For now, this is the beginning.

A room.
A microphone.
A few decks.
And a group of women brave enough to show up and share something real.

If that resonates with you, I hope you’ll join us.

And if you’re a creative, organisation, or space interested in collaborating with us as the project grows, we’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch via email.
